Crown Theater takes high marks at Disney World
Columbiana Middle School Student, Lila Meta (5th grade) competed at the National Performing Arts Festival in Walt Disney World with her amazing friends from Crown Theater Production's Special Needs Cast and over 900 young actors from across the US.
Lila and her group performed an original performance titled "This is Our Story," about a girl named Lila who wanted to be on stage like all of the actors she watched perform in other shows. The group received a standing ovation for their performance. The judges said that this was the first time a group received a standing ovation at the event! The cast won the Judges Choice award and 5 actors, including Lila, received individual awards for their outstanding performance.
This was a great event for the special needs cast, Crown Theater, and the city of Columbiana. The special needs cast played a huge role in Columbiana being recognized as the Nicest Place in America by Reader's Digest. Judges mentioned they would love to come to Columbiana to see how the special needs program works in order to spread the word about the program and our city.
We could not be more proud of Lila and each of the actors.
Again, congratulations to our actors and a special thank you to everyone who makes these opportunities available for our children!
