Columbiana and Crestview Team Up to Fight Cancer
This year, Columbiana Middle School and Crestview Middle School teamed up in a friendly competition to raise awareness and money for our families currently battling cancer. Crestview has three students battling cancer while Columbiana Middle School has a seventh grader currently battling as well.
Columbiana Middle School principal, Jason Martin and Crestview Principal, Allison Lemaster joined efforts to engage their students in a fierce, but fun and friendly “penny war” with all proceeds from each building going directly to the families impacted by cancer. Students were able to bring pennies into their homeroom classes for points. Students could also sabotage other homerooms by bringing in any other change or cash to count negatively for that homeroom.
Crestview Middle School raised $2,332 throughout the week, which was a school record! Columbiana Middle School brought in $7,479.81, winning this year’s trophy. With other efforts, the Columbiana Middle School, staff, and administration will contribute close to $8000.00 towards Team Sam in total!
We would like to thank all of our staff and students for their part in making these donations possible!
Anyone wishing to donate to these families may still do so by stopping in at the front office of the respective middle school.
