Under Ohio law, students must complete a required number of days/hours as part of their school year. When too many classes are cancelled - including snow days or weather cancellation - teachers may choose to assign "Blizzard Bags" and/or remote learning opportunities to make up lost time in the classroom.
During this 3 week school closure period of time, Joshua Dixon students are expected to complete Blizzard Bag assignments that are found on Teacher’s web-pages AND parents are asked to pick up additional assignment packets beginning Tuesday, March 17th-Thursday, March 19th between 9:00-2:00. These assignments will include content lessons to take students through the missed school days. Digital and non-digital options will be available. Students without a device or WIFI connection will not be expected to complete the on-line version of assignments but they will be offered and required to complete the alternate assignments provided. Students will be able to work at their own pace so that work can be done easier when adult support is available, if needed. All teachers will still be available every day to answer questions via email. Materials, including workbooks and storybooks need returned to school as soon as we are back in session. This is how students will be given credit and attendance for the missed days and not have to make up the time in June.
