The Columbiana Fire Department spent the morning at Joshua Dixon Elementary talking to students about fire safety.
Chief Garrity went over the importance of having working smoke detectors, how to contact the fire department if there's a fire, (call 911) stop, drop and roll, having a safe meeting place and "get out, stay out."
A firefighter also showed students all of the equipment he uses when he's called to a fire. Students also got to take a walk around the fire truck. Normally, students are allowed to go inside the fire truck, but due to COVID-19, students could not go inside the fire truck or touch it.
A special thank you to the Columbiana Fire Department for visiting our school and going over the importance of fire safety.
