The six pillars of Good Character are: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. These values will be taught through-out the year as Mrs. Raub-Carney, School Counselor and Sgt. Boley, SRO, partner together to plan and visit classrooms on a regular basis. This month while Mrs. Raub-Carney was presenting the Golden Rule, Sgt. Boley was teaching Citizenship lessons. Topics of discussion included, doing you share to make your school and community better, cooperating, getting involved and volunteering, being a good neighbor, following rules, respecting others and taking care of the environment to name a few. Following each grade-level lesson, students were asked...How can you do your share and take responsibility? Sgt. Boley had every student in the building write their response on an apple and place it on our Citizenship Tree in the main hallway. Students stop at the tree and comment on others' responses. Hopefully the messages will stick by teaching Character one pillar at a time!
